KNIGHTS STUNG BY BEES
The Knights got off to a fast start dominating play in the first period, but with few quality chances against Bees' goaltender Mark Miller.
Adjustments made during the first intermission paid off quickly when the Knights went on a five on four power play at 1:11 of the period. Just ten seconds later sophomore defensman Kelly Sloan received a pass from sophomore forward Woody Hudson and took a slap shot from the point, which wound its way through traffic to beat the Bees' goalie high to the glove side. Linemate Sean Knightly also assisted on the play.
The gold line of Hudson, Knightly and Adam Reask stayed on the ice after the power play and scored again at 1:37, when Reask tipped a Knightly pass over the goaltender's glove hand. The second assist went to Hudson.
Minutes later, junior forward Nick Parrilli nearly advanced the score again, when he ripped a slap shot which cleanly beat the Baldwinsville goalie, but only ominously struck the glove side goal post.
The game became pretty even from that point on until B'ville forward Pat Briggs scored a shorthanded breakaway goal when he beat Knights' senior goaltender Ian Harris over the glove hand at 14:19 of the second.
In third period play, senior defenseman Corey Flanigan missed a dump in at the red line, which brought the Bees back into the Knight's defensive zone. Nick Parrilli was called for a cross checking penalty, when he tried to contain a Bees' attacker in the corner. During the ensuing penalty kill, B'ville forward Chris Newman took a pass in the high slot and leveled a slap hot at Harris, which beat him stick side.
With the game all tied, Baldwinsville went into overdrive. On a faceoff in the Knight's end at 6:53, the puck was drawn back by the Bees' center. A quick snap shot hit the post to Harris glove side, but caromed in front, where Bees' forward Mike Lloyd scored the winning goal
Harris made 19 saves for the Knights, while Bees' goalie Mark Miller made 31.
